"Shame and fear went on vacation", says Kim Gajraj who just made her first solo album. And a year ago she wasn't even completely comfortable with calling herself a 'musician.'
Many things happened at the same time: a break-up, a diagnosis, a change of address, a lot of intimate work with the voice, and a sexual liberation.
"What do I want? Can I ask for it? Can I get it?", questions that can relate to the sexual, and the musical. Kim experienced that self-empowerment didn't remain within only one type of expression.
Within six weeks, there was an album. Out of the blue. She let go of wanting to make something 'good'. It's possible to love being in the studio. Are we forgetting that we can love a process?
"I do alright in the limelight, in fact it's where I fly. It's OK, you can look at me, I've got nothing to hide."
